Installing the VMware vCenter Server
A vCenter server is for controlling multiple ESXi hosts, with vSenter server it will be easy to administrate one or more ESXi host machines.
Here we are going to install a v Senter server in our environment and attaching it to the domain. Here I am using a windows server 2003 to install vSenver server. First of all, we need to install a windows server.
Then I have added the server to the domain, I have tried to install the vCenter server without adding it domain, but it was not allowing me to continue the installation.
Once the server got installed, we can start the installation of vCenter server. I have attached the ISO to the CD drive and started the installation.
Here I have selected the custom installation to get a complete and detailed installation.
In the Custom install, the first step is to install the single sign-on option, with this, the users can log in to vCenter server and access the installed services which the user has permission to access.
We are using only a single vCenter server in this environment so that I am selecting the standalone option.
Then in the credentials, I have given the password, which is very important to remember because this password we have to use while login to the vCenter server.
Next, we have to configure the web client, which will help us to manage vCenter server using a web browser.
Next is the inventory service, which will enable the option to access the inventory services on the vCenter server.
The vCenter server option manages the data center access control and administration in the data center.
After the installation of vCenter Server, I have also installed vSphere Update Manager, Which will enable automated path and version management for ESXi hosts and Virtual Machines.
Here we are ready to go with the vCenter server, we will login to the Server and do the configurations in the other labs.
