Net701- VMware Lab3

Working With Virtual Machines

Here we are having a look at how to install and configure a virtual machine in ESXi host.

Right click on the ESXi host in the inventory and select the new virtual machine to start the installation.

Select custom configuration to get more options to the installation.

We are installing a windows machine so that we need to select windows as a platform.

Here we can select the memory as per the requirement.

Here we can select the disk size and type.

We can review the configuration and here we get an option to edit virtual machine settings before completing the installation.

Now the VM is ready to complete its installation, before that we need to put the ISO for windows into the CD drive. Then it will start installing the windows as soon as it finishes the installation of VM.

Here we can see the created VM, now we have to power on it.

It will automatically start installation of windows.

Once the windows got installed we need to install VMware tools on the VM. It will enable the functions of the mouse and proper keyboard and other plug and play devices on VM. We can get it by going to VM option on the top of the window.

Now our VM has been installed and ready to go.
